I wanted to note that you should drill for a 3/8 bolt, not a 3/8 hole.

Tech Tuesday - Removing Bike Rack Rattle

Another way to eliminate rack rattle is to drill a 3/8 hole in the bottom of the receiver an inch or two forward (toward the front of your truck) of the locking pin. Then tap threads and and tighten a bolt to put pressure on the rack. Use some washers to take up any gap between the bolt head and receiver to prevent to bolt from loosening up. This way you can keep a lock for your rack and save some money. Any shade tree mechanic can do this.

haha so i was working, some 21 year old little puss bag dude ate it on his mountain bike his mom called us, tells us this story of how he went flying through the air as high as the house on his dh bike and he has a smalllll scrape on his knee and is crying like a bitch and wants an ambulance ride. we go out side and theres a plastic scooter ramp with a landing 3 feet away and aa wal mart bike with a popped tire. haha i sooooooo wanted to pull out your knee pic and tell him to shut the f*ck up
